New elementary school

Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board,
Saint-Lin-Laurentides, in progress,  2024

The proposed exterior design of the new elementary school in Saint-Lin-Laurentides is rooted in a survey of the municipality’s territory. The surrounding farmland, the nearby Achigan River, and the many streams and drainage ditches scattered on the land inspired the project.

To capture the functioning and form of the region’s water system, we created an element of greenery, freshness, and biodiversity in the schoolyard around which are articulated programmatic zones and elements, such as team play spaces, an area for the little ones, and different motor challenge spaces.

The new schoolyard is an outdoor space rich in play experience and opportunities for learning and discovery. The continuity between the classroom and the schoolyard is fluid and natural. The area is stimulating, pleasant, and green, and students are eager to play and learn. This space is also accessible to the surrounding community, which will benefit from the facilities.
