Gros Bec Childcare Centre
Longue-Pointe,
Montreal, 2006
- Children and family
The design of the yard integrated many possibilities for activities: a sandbox, a playground structure, a water game invented by our team, a crafts space and paths that could also be used for cycling. The space reserved for toddlers includes an absorbing surface, a wooden surface, a sandbox, a fence with observation lookouts and awnings. Well organized and solid storage spaces were also custom made to facilitate the work of the centre’s personnel.
Regarding greenery, there were already tall beautiful trees in the yard. Their conservation and spotlighting were an important preoccupation. The design is articulated around them to maintain their health and so that children can enjoy them for many years to come. A wooden patio was installed at the base of some trees to enjoy their shade and the beauty of their foliage. Resistant and textured greenery was also planted throughout the yard, making it greener and cozier.
