Evergreen Learning Grounds

Evergreen,
Montreal,  2003 – 2007

From 2003 to 2007, Mousse coordinated the Evergreen’s Learning Grounds Initiative in Montreal. This program helped schools mobilize to make their yards greener. Through this program, we offered consulting services and workshops for selected schools and school boards, overseeing the different initiatives for schoolyard greening in Montreal.

In the case of this particular projects, we set aside our role as designers and focused on the mobilization and empowerment of the schools for their project, the goal being to make them autonomous, to encourage them to take the project into their own hands and, mostly, to reinforce their capacity to realize their school greening projects. Consulting and educating were at the heart of this, each step of the projects seen as a learning opportunity for children and the school communities.
